CAS DATA PROTECTION POLICY
Introduction
This Privacy Policy provides information about how we collect and treat the personal data of our stakeholders. It is written to protect your personal information in compliance with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). CAS collects personal data that is reasonably necessary for, or directly related to, its function and activities as an organization dedicated to animal welfare. We limit access to these records and all administration team members are briefed on their responsibilities.
These are some of the ways we may collect your data:
- When you submit forms, documents or agreements pertaining to adoptions, fostering, volunteering or related CAS activities
- When you request for tax rebates
- When you visit our website and online marketing campaigns;
- When you subscribe to our mailing lists and newsletters;
- When you donate to our organization, register for our services or participate in any of our campaigns, events or programs;
- When you interact with any of our employees, interns, volunteers, board and committee members (for example, via telephone calls, letters, emails, face-to-face meetings, and social media platforms);
- When your images are captured by us via CCTV cameras in our premises, or via photographs or videos taken by our representatives at events or within the CAS premises;
- When you submit the personal data of any other third party (such as a family member) to us regarding animal welfare related activities;
- When you submit your Personal Data to us for any other reason.
Purposes for the Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Data
CAS will retain and use personal data it collects for the following purposes:
- To contact, inform and update you about any programs or events you have registered for;
- To respond to your enquiries pertaining to our events and/or programs;
- To facilitate your participation in activities for which you have registered;
- To facilitate the collection of donations, process donations and administer tax receipts for eligible donations;
- To manage relationships with you (including but not limited to sending of thank you letters and collaterals such as newsletters, annual reports and donation forms);
- To use your data to the extent required and relevant to your volunteer experience, including eligibility and security checks;
- Assessing your eligibility as a care-giver for animals for adoptions and fostering (including monitoring and ensuring welfare of animals in your care)
- To record your participation for purposes such as legal and auditing requirements;
- To market our programs and events;
- To comply with any requirements by law.
Disclosure of Personal Data
Sometimes we use third parties to facilitate our programs and initiatives. In such cases, we would work in close collaboration with such third parties, and adopt appropriate security measures to protect your personal data. Examples of these include, but is not limited to, transport, travel services, accommodation, and medical. CAS will make all reasonable endeavors to comply with the minimum requirements of the PDPA.
Data Security and Retention Policy
CAS generally holds your personal data in an electronic form on computer servers which are password protected for limited access. However, we may sometimes also hold personal data in physical form, such as in paper hard copies. While CAS cannot guarantee any loss, misuse or alteration to data, we take reasonable steps to prevent such occurrences.
CAS website and social media platforms may contain links to other third-party websites and events. This policy does not apply to external links and websites. CAS takes not responsibility for the privacy practices of such links and websites.
CAS will only retain personal data for as long as it is required for the fulfillment of the purposes for which it was collected or allowed by an applicable law to be retained.

This policy shall be governed in all respects by Singapore law.

We may also charge you a reasonable fee for the handling and processing of your requests to access or correct your personal data. We will provide you with a written estimate of the fee we will be charging.
Note on Withdrawal of Consent: If you withdraw your consent, depending on the nature of your request, CAS may not be able to continue any agreements or arrangements that are in place with you. Should there be any contractual breaches, CAS’ legal rights and remedies in such events are expressly reserved.
