Our Medic Aid & Emergency fund expenditure for 540 dogs and cats amounted to $360,000 for the past 12 months. It is vital we have the necessary funds available to help & prevent suffering of animals in need
-----------------------------------
One of the greatest needs of community cats and street dogs is receiving medical aid in times of need. CAS provides help and assistance to groups, individuals and organisations that need emergency and long term medical help for their animals. A huge portion of our funds are spent on medical needs.
Most of the dogs and cats that come to us in need of medical aid are accident victims. Some are victims of maggot wounds due to fights that occur over territory or food on the streets. Some of the older animals are also victims of Heartworm and often come in malnourished and in need of urgent Heartworm treatment if they may face the risk of heart failure and eventually, death. In many cases, the recovery process is a long and gruelling one. The animals need to be hospitalised and receive daily medication, wound cleaning and at times physiotherapy aid.
Sadly, due to the measures put in place to manage Covid-19, we have not been able to run physical fundraisers or events. Our annual event, Animals' Day Out that sees an average of 2000 volunteers and 500 dogs combing our streets to fundraise for street animals has been cancelled too. This means we need all the help we can get to continue to offer medical aid for animals in need. The last 12 months have seen us spend a total of $360,000 on covering the medical needs of 540 dogs and cats.

Willy Wonka was rescued from the streets of Tuas. We believe this lad had been involved in a serious dog fight. His ear had been ripped and maggots were oozing from the wound. Willy's tail had also been broken and needed to be amputated. He was a bag of bones and laying weak on the road. We believe Willy would not have made it beyond the night if we had not seen him.

Baby is a street dog from a wetland area, and lives in the forested areas where wild boars are also known to lurk. Baby is suspected to have had his chest pieced in a conflict leaving the open wound festering. His feeder had alerted us to his plight and he is now receiving a clean up of the wound on a daily basis and oral medication. We hope the wound will close up soon. |
Ah Ma is a street dog from a wetland in east Singapore. She is cared for by many feeders in the area who offer her food on a daily basis. Of late, Ah Ma was spotted with a gaping wound under her belly. It was believed to have been sustained through a piece of heavy metal slicing open the lower half of her belly. With the help of some amazing feeders, Ah Ma has since been secured and is under medical treatment with the amazing team at Animal World Veterinary. Ah Ma's bills are estimated to be a total of $4000 due to the nature of surgery required. Will you help us help this old damsel? |
